SAMSUNG GALAXY S4: UNIQUE FEATURES

Samsung unveiled it's flagship phone sometimes in the month of March at an event in New York. This was preceded by a lot of speculations but finally it was unveiled and surely the expectation from such a phone that is set to compete against the Apple Iphone 5 is high. This article will focus on the features that are peculiar to the S4 and not any that it shares with already existing devices.

1. FINGER HOVERING SENSOR                                                                                                     The S4 is equipped with a technology that senses when your finger is hovering above it. This causes some applications to react to the proximity of the finger above them. For example when a finger hovers above the mail application, a preview of the first few lines mail received while the gallery application will show to you an expanded thumbnail. This is a thumb up to Samsung in terms of user's interaction with the phone.                                                                   
   
                                                                                             
2. TILT PHONE TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN                                                                               One of the newest features is one which makes navigation easy. When on a webpage and the phone senses your gaze on it,tilting the phone up or down scrolls the webpage in the direction it is tilted to. Though initially customers were expecting the scrolling to be done by eye movement on the screen. My fear with this is the sensitivity of the calibration. But Samsung being a top tech company I believe they will get this right.
3. VIDEO PLAYBACK SENSITIVE TO EYE MOVEMENT                                                           Have you ever wanted a situation when your videos pause when you take your eyes off your phone? Your wish just came true in the S4. Videos are automatically paused whenever you take your eyes off the screen and resumes as you set eyes back on the screen. That is really an interesting features as you miss nothing and not bothered to rewind to catch back what you missed.
4. SCROLL THROUGH SONGS WITHOUT TOUCHING THE PHONE                                       The idea behind this feature is to change and skip songs without touching the phone. This means less contact with the phone and therefore a cleaner screen. This feature will really come in handy during meal time and dirty jobs. What do you think?
5. BIG SCREEN                                                                                                                                   The Galaxy S 4, crams a 5-inch (127-millimeter) 1080 pixel screen into a body slightly smaller than the S III's. But because the new display will cover more of the phone's surface area, the device itself will be the same length and slightly narrower. 
6. LARGE BATTERY                                                                                                                          The S4 is quite an array of big....The battery is one of the big components on the phone. The battery on the S4 is 20 percent bigger than that of the S3. Though Samsung has not categorically stated that the big size translates to a longer battery life but the norm is the bigger the battery the more juice it stores. We'll see about that. 
7. EIGHT CORE PROCESSOR                                                                                                          Wow....This is an unprecedented in the smartphone  world. An eight core processor,you can guess the speed at which this monster will go at.  Galaxy S IV is powered by Exynos 5410 processor. It has eight cores with four of them being the high-performance cores based on A15 architecture from ARM, a British company. These cores run at 1.8GHz. The other four cores, which are slower - 1.2GHz - but more power efficient, are based on A7 architecture.
8. THE CAMERA                                                                                                                                The device also has a 13-megapixel camera, compared with the S3's 8-megapixel camera. The Camera application can now use both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, inserting a small picture of the user even as he's capturing the scene in front of him.  The S4 can record sound to run alongside snapped still pictures. When several S 4s are in close proximity, they can link up to play the same music, simultaneously - perfect for headphone dance parties. 
9. INSTANT TRANSLATION BETWEEN 10 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES                                   Samsung is also promising an instant translation between 10 different languages for certain applications, as well as a separate translation application on the device.                                                                                                                                                                
    Quite an array there of innovations. The S4 is really set to be a trailblazer to other smartphones. The competition is on. What do you guys think?
